In 2003, long time South Bay resident J. Nigel Villanueva returned home eager to make a name for himself in the local criminal defense community. The Fresno County Public Defender’s Office, where Mr. Villanueva began his career, provided the perfect opportunity for Mr. Villanueva to accumulate a wealth of trial experience ranging fromNigel Villanueva the common traffic infraction to felony trials.  More importantly, Mr. Villanueva learned firsthand the importance of assessing each and every matter on its merits, and not by the amount of the client’s retainer fee.

Since teaming up with his law school classmate in 2003 to form Eberhardt Villanueva, LLP, Mr. Villanueva has conducted over a dozen jury trials and arbitration hearings.  In addition to obtaining a verdict in excess of $47,000.00 against a disciplined lawyer for sexual assault upon a client (Gonzales v. Sandoval TC 015899), Mr. Villanueva recently negotiated a $650,000.00 personal injury settlement on behalf of an injured motorist.  Together with Mr. Eberhardt’s assistance the duo have successfully obtained in excess of $3,000,000.00 in personal injury settlements, judgments or awards.
